Welding Technology - A.A.S. Degree (Career)
Skilled welders are in high demand, with 45,600 openings projected each year over the next decade. Drivers include increased military shipbuilding, infrastructure repair, and retirements in the workforce.
Welders use specialized equipment to join, repair, and cut metal parts and products.
Welding Technology by the Numbers
Welding technology occupations have an expected 45,600 openings growth nationally from 2024–2034, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In Maryland, the demand is expected to be twice as high as the national average demand, with a median pay of $51,000 average annual salary.
As demand continues to increase and workers retire or transfer to other positions, newly trained welders will be needed to handle an increased workload.
