The Challenge
The British Institute of Management and Technology in Ivory Coast (IBM-T) selected the English Language Center to teach business English and culture to their students. IBM-T has similar agreements with other institutions around the world. The ELC was challenged to create an American educational experience. IBM-T’s coordinator was a former ELC student, so he knew first-hand that the partnership would garner excellent results.
The Design
The IBM-T Administrators selected the topics for engagement based on the needs of their students and the requirements of their MBA program. IBM-T has always offered their students an opportunity to learn business English in an American context, and the ELC agrees that an immersive experience garners excellent results. Due to the distance, the ELC offers both face-to-face and online options for learning.
The Impact
The English Language Center’s (ELC) Global Business English program has hosted a group of professionals from the British Institute of Management and Technology in Ivory Coast to study business English and culture for several summers. The program has been so successful that the ELC has helped IBM-T attract new students to their MBA program through this partnership.
