You will be able to set up your HCC login credentials and access your class in Canvas two weeks before the start of your class.

There are several ways to check on the status of an HCC emergency or weather-related closing/delayed opening:

• Check announcements on the HCC website homepage, howardcc.edu.
• Call the HCC switchboard number (443-518-1000) for recorded messages about the status.
• Subscribe to the HCC Mobile Alert System to receive a message on your designated device (cell phone, email, pager, desktop RSS), if the "Closings & Delays" option was selected.
• Check local radio and television stations for information in their broadcasts and/or on their websites.

Howard Community College offers a flexible Tuition Payment Plan. Tuition payments are spread over a period of time with interest-free monthly installments. Enrollment fee is $30 fee each semester. 

How the plan works

This plan is administered by Nelnet Business Solutions, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nelnet Business Solutions uses direct debits from your bank account (checking/saving) or credit card account (Master Card, Visa, or Discover) to make monthly payments on your behalf. Should you need to contact the company directly, call 1-800-609-8056.

3 Steps to get your HCC student ID card:

1) Get an official receipt showing that you are taking a class in the current semester. The receipt should show your college ID number. You can get this receipt from the ELC office in the Hickory Ridge building, room HR200.

2) Bring this receipt and a picture ID (driver’s license) to the Public Safety Office in the RCF building, room 117. They are open Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m.

3) The public safety staff will take your picture and give you an HCC student ID card.

Once you have a student ID card, you can get an updated sticker on your card for each semester you take a class. Just go to the Public Safety office with your new registration receipt and your ID card, and they will update your ID card.

With an HCC student ID card, you can:

• ride RTA buses for FREE
• get career counseling assistance at the Career Services office
• get affordable preventative dental hygiene treatment at the Dental Clinic
• access Food Pantry for basic food and personal items
• checkout books or get help with your class research at the HCC Library
• borrow laptop so you can do your homework assignments on CANVAS
• use health related services at the Wellness Center
