Trip Eligibility
This trip is open to adults 18 years and older who are eager to immerse themselves in learning a new language and culture in one of Latin America's most enchanting cities. This course is open to everyone — no prior enrollment in our noncredit programs is needed! Students can choose from two language learning levels: absolute beginner and beginner/intermediate. Participants must already have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond August 1, 2025.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:
*Receive a 50% refund if you withdraw from the course before May 30, 2025. Request must be made in writing to WCCELanguages@HowardCC.edu. Enrollment is non-refundable after May 30, 2025.
Howard Community College reserves the right to cancel the program if enrollment is insufficient or due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a cancellation, we will notify you as far in advance as possible and issue a full refund.

Costs & Affordability
The cost of the trip is $3,200*.
Course fees INCLUDE:
- Pre-departure orientation (in person on July 24 from 6-9 p.m.)

Course fees DO NOT INCLUDE:
- Meals
- Health insurance coverage for international travel
- Transportation to and from Reagan National airport
- Out of pocket expenses
*Senior tuition discounts, financial aid, and waivers are not offered.

- Depart Reagan National Airport and arrive in Quito, the capital of Ecuador
Day 2: Saturday, August 2
- Explore Quito
- Flight from Quito to Cuenca, Ecuador
Day 3: Sunday, August 3
- Orientation and Universidad de Cuenca campus tour
- Lunch in Cuenca’s historic center
- Cuenca city tour
- Welcome dinner at a local restaurant with traditional food
Day 4: Monday, August 4
- Spanish class and introduction to conversation partners
- Workshop: Cuencan artist
Day 5: Tuesday, August 5
- Spanish class
- Workshop: musical instruments of the Andes
- Tour: botanical garden
Day 6: Wednesday, August 6
- Spanish class
- Workshop: local market
- Tour: Pumapungo Archaeological Park
Day 7: Thursday, August 7
- Spanish class
- Workshop: cooking class
- Tour: ethnographic museum
Day 8: Friday, August 8
- Spanish class
- Tour: El Cajas National Park
Day 9: Saturday, August 9
- Tour: textile and jewelry workshops in the towns of Gualaceo and Chordeleg
- Farewell dinner
- Overnight return flight
Day 10: Sunday, August 10
- Return to Reagan National Airport
