This beginner-friendly course introduces students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including the basics of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML). We’ll explore the real-world perils of AI, such as bias, misinformation, and deepfake risks, and provide practical strategies for using AI tools safely and effectively. Students will walk away with a solid understanding of both the opportunities and dangers of AI, and how to apply AI tools to enhance everyday life. Instructor: Paul Hylenski.
American Mah Jongg is a fun and challenging four player game that provides great mental stimulation along with positive social interaction. This beginner to intermediate class will cover National Mah Jongg rules and the fundamentals of this rummy-like game that is played with tiles rather than cards. American Mah Jongg sets will be available and a current Mah Jongg card will be provided for each student. Instructor: Bernadette Preston.
Yoga can be accessible to everyone. Learn to develop balance, strength, flexibility and focus. Weekly classes guide you through beginner poses, methods of meditation, breathwork technique, and how to be more mindful in your day. Students will take with them the knowledge to create a home-based full-body practice that may help relieve aches and pains while easing stress and anxiety. All levels welcome. Learn how to use journaling to release what is no longer true, needed, helpful, desired, or valued, and allow something new that is creative or challenging to emerge. Students will learn several ways of journaling to capture their stream of consciousness and they will follow a well-established journaling process developed by Ira Progoff, to help problem-solve, gain insight, and deepen their sense of self and purpose. You hold the full story–your triumphs, your missteps, and everything in between. Writing your own obituary not only ensures accuracy but also serves as a meaningful resource for future generations researching their family history. This grounding practice helps you know yourself better, appreciate yourself, and allows you to get a more relaxed and sound sleep. Regular meditation can activate the body’s rest-and-digest system and begin the process of ushering the body back to a more natural and calm state. This class is geared for those new to yoga and interested in a gentle practice. Students will learn simple flowing sequences to warm up the body, as well as slower paced movements focusing on alignment, strength, balance, and flexibility, ending with an extended period of relaxation. Traditional Chinese medicine believes good health is the result of a free-flowing, well balanced qi, while sickness, pain, or physical disorders are the result of qi blockage or unbalance. Qigong practice helps to restore balance. Develop a more relaxed, harmonious state of mind and body, reduce stress, resist illness, and heighten sensitivity to your body’s internal organs along with developing an energetic ability to regulate your own health and vitality. Around 527 AD, Bodihidharma arrived in China. During this period, he and his disciples suffered from muscle aches, weakness, and fatigue due to rigorous training and adverse climatic conditions. To remedy this situation, Da Mo created a set of exercises that kept the body strong and flexible, calmed the mind and heightened spiritual awareness. Hands of the 18 Luohans is a deep and efficient exercise system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused attention. Using 18 specific forms, you will develop flexibility and ease aches and pains in your back. Instructor David Foulk introduces you to this ancient form of exercise in a clear and precise manner. Through the concepts of “look, follow, modify and forget” you will learn how to transform your physical health into a state of harmony, balance, and wholeness.
