Emergency Medical Services
Professionals on call for life.
HCC’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program aims to prepare competent entry-level Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. The program combines cutting-edge simulation technology, real-life field experiences, and interdisciplinary learning to prepare students to respond to situations they will face on emergency calls.
HCC students successfully completing a pair of Emergency Medical Technician courses (EMSP-106 and field component EMSP-107) are eligible to sit for the state certification exam administered by MIEMSS and for national certification through the National Registry of EMTs.
For certified EMTs interested in becoming a paramedic, HCC's Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic program offers an associate career degree or a certificate option, with graduates of either eligible to take state and national examinations in Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
In compliance with CoAEMSP standards, public results for the HCC Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic program's student outcomes for the national registry exam, retention rate, and positive placement are available on the EMT/P Program Student Outcomes Result Summary
