
Accounting Apprenticeship
HCC’s Accounting Apprenticeship Program offers a well-rounded approach to professional growth, combining academic instruction with hands-on experience and industry collaboration. This 12–18 month earn while you learn program provides apprentices with a strong academic foundation, essential business and technical skills, and practical workplace experience. Apprentices will be prepared for entry-level roles in accounting firms or accounting departments within local organizations.
Becoming an accounting apprentice provides the opportunity to gain essential skills for a successful career. As an Accounting Specialist, responsibilities include managing financial transactions, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting. Apprentices also support audits, maintain records, and collaborate with departments to ensure accuracy. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accounting knowledge are key to success in this role.
Requirements for Admission
Standard requirements for admission are:
- Be 18 years of age or older by the program start date, or be enrolled in the HCPSS School to Apprenticeship (youth apprenticeship) program and be 16 years old with parental consent.
- Earned high school diploma or equivalent, or be a dual-enrolled high school senior.
- Completed an initial program screening and employment interview.
Eligible Candidates
The Accounting Apprenticeship program is open to prospective and current HCC students, as well as high school students participating in the HCPSS youth apprenticeship program.
