Strings and Guitar Faculty
Distinguished Faculty Offering Personalized Instruction
The Music Institute at HCC offers high-quality instruction in violin, viola, cello, bass, and guitar in a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, rock, and pop. Chamber music groups may be arranged upon request, and intermediate and advanced students may also participate in the Cello Ensemble and Cello Performance Seminar.
The orchestral strings faculty includes accomplished performers and educators—many of whom also teach at HCC and other colleges, conservatories, and music departments throughout the Delmarva region. Faculty have appeared on renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Alice Tully Hall.
Guitar faculty tailor lessons to each student’s musical interests while developing the technical, theoretical, and stylistic skills essential to each genre. Instruction is available on both acoustic and electric instruments, with expertise in classical, folk, blues, rock, and jazz.
To be matched with a teacher and schedule lessons, please contact Dr. Benjamin Myers, coordinator of string studies. For jazz lessons (R&B, blues, bebop), please contact Dr. Kyle Coughlin.
