The Test Center is available for make-up testing and for students requiring modified testing conditions. The Test Center also provides support for non-HCC students in need of proctoring services for other institutions. Regardless of whether you are an HCC student or a community member receiving proctoring, we ask you to follow the Test Center rules to ensure you receive accessible, secure, and professional services.
If you are an HCC student, please schedule your appointments by signing in using your HCC credentials. Remember appointments are required, so to avoid having to wait, we encourage you to schedule your appointment prior to arrival.

All testing ends at 8:00pm Monday through Thursday. Academic testing ends at 3:00pm.
Hours vary by semester. No students are admitted into the testing room 30 minutes prior to closing.

Test Center Rules
When in the Test Center, all individuals must follow the Test Center rules:
- Registration is required. Testers may schedule an appointment prior to arrival or use a kiosk for walk-in scheduling.
- Face coverings are optional, but highly recommended.
- All testers must present a current school or government-issued photo ID. School ID cards must have the current year or an expiration date. Government-issued IDs cannot be expired and must have a recent picture.
- Testers are highly encouraged to know the name of the instructor teaching the course, the course number, and the title of the exam.
- A Test Center locker will be provided upon arrival. All personal items must be placed in the locker including, but not limited to, books, notes, pens, pencils, calculators, cell phones, electronic devices, purses, lip balm, watches, wallets, and keys.
- All pockets must be empty and cell phones must be powered OFF inside the locker.
- Remove all listening or recording devices from your person.
- No food or beverages are allowed in the testing rooms.
- Once students begin testing, they are not permitted to leave the testing suite without submitting their exam.
- Unless worn for religious or medical reasons, all hats and head coverings must be removed and stored in a locker. Testers are required to demonstrate that no recording or listening devices are present in their ears (by patting their head covering or showing their ears to a testing administration in a private setting).

Students must speak with their instructor and request their exams to be sent to the Test Center. Registration is required and can be made prior to arriving or using our check-in system.

What do you need in order to take an academic exam at the Test Center?
- A valid, government-issued photo ID or a current HCC student ID to test. Student IDs must have the current semester sticker displayed to be considered valid
- Be prepared to put all items in a locker
- Know your professor's name and the name of the test you intend to take
Staff will enforce the exam deadline given by the instructor. Please confirm the deadline of the exam with your professor prior to your arrival. All exams must be turned in to Test Center staff at the posted closing time regardless of the exam time limit.

Non-HCC Students: Proctoring Services
External Proctoring Services are available for individuals who need to have an exam from another college or university proctored at Howard Community College. The Test Center is a member of the National College Testing (NCTA) and part of the Consortium of College Testing Centers. Visit our Certification website if you are interested in taking a certification or licensure exam.
To request external proctoring services, please follow the steps below:
- Email hccproctor@howardcc.edu with your name, phone number, and the name of your institution.
- Check your email for our required HCC Proctoring Request form to be filled out by your professor or institution. Please copy hccproctor@howardcc.edu so we can ensure your school has been contacted.
- Schedule your exam. Please note we reserve the right to cancel appointments if we have not received all testing materials 48 hours prior to your appointment.
- On the day of testing, pay a $30 proctoring fee prior to testing. Exams exceeding three hours may incur additional fees. Contact the Cashier’s Office at 443-518-1862 to pay over the phone or visit them in-person before testing in RCF200.
