Students who want to register for noncredit classes after sections have begun should contact the division of continuing education and workforce development.
Changing between Credit and Audit
An audit designation must be specified at the time of registration. No credit will be given. Audit status can only be converted to credit status and credit status can only be converted to audit status during the first 20 percent of the section’s duration. Audited courses do not satisfy a pre-requisite for another course, and they do not count as part of the academic term’s credit hour load nor as credit toward graduation. Audited courses will appear on the transcript with a grade of "N." Students must meet course prerequisites to audit.

Late Credit Registration
Once the term has begun, registration will only be permitted in sections that have available seats.
For 15 week classes, students may register for classes that have available seats through the close of business on the fifth business day of a term, excluding Saturday and Sunday. After that, the department chair, associate dean, or dean may grant permission for late entry via the late exception request process or a credit section override form. Late exceptions may be made if there are extenuating circumstances, and the request must come from the registrar to the appropriate academic dean. Dual enrollment requests for late exceptions are reviewed by the admissions and advising director and then forwarded to the appropriate academic dean.
For classes that meet less than 15 weeks, registration is permitted in sections that have not met for the second time. Registration is permitted in online sections that meet less than 15 weeks until close of business the first business day of the section; after that, late exception request rules apply.

Refund Policies
To be eligible to receive a refund, students must officially drop a credit class before the deadline.
To view your tuition refund and withdraw deadlines, visit My Tuition Refund and Withdraw Deadlines .
During 15-week terms (fall and spring):
Students are eligible for a graduated tuition refund: 100 percent of tuition, the consolidated fee, fees associated with HCC’s Course Material Program, and course fees by the end of the first week; 50 percent of tuition, fees associated with HCC’s Course Material Program, and consolidated fee only by the end of the second week (no course fees are refunded). During the third week, students may still drop a class but are not eligible for refunds. An official drop within the refund period is a student’s only assurance of release from some or all of the financial obligation incurred by registering. For more information about this, click here.
During summer, winter or other variable time sessions (late start, fast track, express classes, etc):
Students are eligible for graduated refunds during the first few days of a section. During this period, students are eligible for a refund of either 100 percent of all tuition, the consolidated fee, fees associated with HCC’s Course Material Program, and course fees or 50 percent of tuition, fees associated with HCC’s Course Material Program, and consolidated fee only (no course fees are refunded). After the posted refund period for these sections, students are not eligible for refunds. An official drop within the refund period is a student’s only assurance of release from some or all of the financial obligation incurred by registering. For more information about this, click here.
For all students who are charged fees associated with HCC’s Course Material Program:
If you drop a course, you will receive an email notification and have 5 business days from the drop date to arrange the return of your course materials with no penalty. If no action is taken for physical course materials, you will be billed for the full purchase price. Digital books are automatically returned for you.
Failure to attend classes does not release a student from financial obligations to the college. Students who are deployed military or emergency workers impacted by a national emergency are encouraged to contact the Office of Records, Registration and Veterans' Affairs for additional refund information.
