Howard Community College (HCC) receives private grants, grants from public entities, and gifts. Gifts and grants can be from public funding sources such as federal, state, and local government agencies or private funding sources such as individuals, corporations, corporate foundations, and nonprofit foundations.
Gifts and private grants to HCC must be made through the Howard Community College Educational Foundation (HCCEF), Inc., which is authorized by the HCC Board of Trustees to receive all restricted and unrestricted scholarships, gifts (including in-kind and loaned gifts), and grants for the purposes related to the advancement of the college. The HCCEF accepts gifts and grants that support various instructional, research, scholarship, and public service functions to support the mission of the college.
Grants from public entities may be made directly to HCC. Scholarships designated to specific HCC students by external organizations, such as a service organization or churches, will go directly to the finance office for disbursement.
All college personnel seeking to obtain funding, equipment, or other forms of support through public or private donors must consult with the development office for approval of all grant applications and fundraising.
Howard Community College will accept funds from the HCCEF that meet the prescribed set of regulations contained in procedure 61.05.01, Receipt of Gifts and Grants.
