Common Course Outlines
Common course outlines are maintained for courses currently offered or courses planned to be offered. The syllabus must correspond to the information included in the common course outline:
- The course description is a one-paragraph learner-centered description of the course as it will appear in the catalog. Prerequisites or corequisites are to be stated in the course outline.
- The overall course objectives are written to describe what the student will be able to demonstrate after successfully finishing the course.
- It is the responsibility of the faculty to review and update course outlines and submit them to the dean or designee, as necessary.
- Substantive changes to course outlines must be submitted to the curriculum committee by the dean or designee for review and approval.
Course Syllabus
The course syllabus should be articulated in a way that best allows students to understand the purpose of the course, courses objectives, learning activities, assessments, grading procedures, required learning materials, attendance policy, and any other requirements.
Availability of Course Outlines
The up-to-date versions of all course outlines are available in the web version of the college catalog.
