Since 2014, senior leadership has received consistent feedback from faculty, staff, and leadership about the challenges within the department of Human Resources (HR). We’ve also seen growing external requirements that demand compliance with increasingly complex laws and regulations, alongside the need to enhance services that support our employees and students.
We recognize that a more transformative change is essential to strengthen our policies and procedures, align our technology and services to support the expectations of our faculty and staff, and comply with the ongoing and growing regulatory requirements.
To meet these critical needs, HCC’s leadership and its Board of Trustees have approved the expansion of our CampusWorks partnership. We have worked with CampusWorks for nearly a decade in process improvement and aligning business practices with our technological capabilities.
This transition is about creating an improved experience for everyone at HCC. With CampusWorks’ support, employees can expect simpler processes, better tools, and higher levels of responsiveness. These improvements will create a more enjoyable work environment, helping HCC become an even better place to work.
Ultimately, by investing in our employees, we also enhance the student experience, paving the way for HCC to evolve its definition of excellence.

What changes are happening and why?
Starting January 30, 2025, CampusWorks will staff and manage our human resources department. These seasoned professionals will provide full-time support for all aspects of HR and will be integrated into the HCC community. Some of you are working with members of the CampusWorks team now and see how they bring thoughtful expertise to address our challenges and a strong customer service ethic in the work they do.
-
Are there any other changes happening as part of this transition?
Human Resources is the only department that will be fully staffed by CampusWorks.
-
Why are these changes happening now?
As employment-related laws and regulations have continued to evolve, it has become more challenging for HCC to ensure compliance through seamless processes and practices within HR. Transitioning HR services to CampusWorks is a sustainable way to address challenges facing several areas of the college, while minimizing disruption.
-
What outcomes can HCC expect from this expanded partnership with CampusWorks?
CampusWorks is committed to delivering measurable results that improve HR services across the College.
Expected enhancements include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Streamlined HR processes for faculty and staff
- Better use of technology for smoother workflows
- Improved responsiveness to employee questions and requests
- Ongoing compliance with employment laws and regulations
- Accurate, timely support for payroll and benefits administration
- A more efficient and transparent hiring process
- Increased access to training and professional development opportunities
- A collaborative, employee-focused approach to HR
-
What is happening to the existing Human Resources department?
We believe in deploying a staffing model that is sustainable from financial and talent perspectives. With CampusWorks as our partner, we will have a strong HR team meeting our daily needs and the ability to tap into unique expertise available through CampusWorks’ team of seasoned HR professionals.
We deeply appreciate the contributions of our HR team and are committed to supporting those affected by this transition. Be assured that we are embracing HCC’s value of respect as we help colleagues manage the realignment of work and duties.
-
When will the faculty and staff be able to meet the new HR team?
CampusWorks will provide an HR Transition Team to stabilize department functions, ensuring all processes are working, systems are being leveraged (such as PeopleAdmin for the hiring process), training needs are identified, and outstanding questions, requests, and concerns are addressed. The work of CampusWorks’ Transition Team will last a few months.
You have met several of our transition team members already. Michelle Foster and Dr. Candice Hunter, who have been providing support for HCC’s HR department since October 1, 2024, will continue to support the College during this transition. Additional CampusWorks professionals will be introduced to HCC as they are onboarded.
Beyond the early transition period and throughout the partnership, CampusWorks will provide a consistent HR team on campus, led by an Associate Vice President for Human Resources. One important benefit of partnering with CampusWorks as our HR provider is that they can easily adjust their staffing and positions to meet the evolving needs of HCC. Thus, some HR staff members may change during the partnership, but these changes will typically reflect an intentional shift to better serve the College.
