The Howard Community College Board of Trustees announces a change of date and format and closed session for their October 2024 meeting. The work session and regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. and will be virtual in format.

Howard Community College has received a grant from the Maryland Department of Labor’s Employment Advancement Right Now (EARN) Maryland program. The grant will fund the Central Maryland Logistics Workforce Pipeline Partnership project to transition students with disabilities into careers in the logistics industry while helping employers adopt and create more inclusive work environments.

The Howard Community College Board of Trustees announces a change of date for the board’s Audit and Finance Committee meeting. The committee will meet on October 9, 2024, at the conclusion of the board’s Legislative and Community Relations Committee meeting.

Accelerated (7-week) courses provide a condensed alternative to traditional semester-long classes, enabling faster degree completion. With many courses available online or scheduled remote, students can balance studies with work, family, and personal commitments. “They [students] can complete their degree program by taking at least two classes every 7 weeks, which means students earn 12 or more credits each term,” says Dr. Toni Sims Muhammad, Associate VP for Teaching and Learning. HCC is honored to receive a generous grant from the PepsiCo Foundation for the second consecutive year. PepsiCo Foundation’s Uplift Scholarship program supports students through financial, mentoring, and academic assistance. “This grant will help provide critical resources and remove financial barriers for many of our low-income students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend college, paving the way to academic and career success," states HCC President, Dr. Daria J. Willis.
